Accessibility Isn’t Extra—It’s Essential
Accessibility should never be an afterthought. Yet for many amputees and people with disabilities, it still is.
Global Accessibility Awareness Day reminds us of a crucial truth: our environments either include people—or exclude them.
Think of these daily barriers amputees face:
No ramps or elevators in public places
Doorways too narrow for crutches or wheelchairs
No seating or adaptive equipment at community gyms
Public transit that skips accessibility standards altogether
These aren't inconveniences. They’re injustices.
At Less Leg More Heart, we work to change that by:
Advocating for equitable environments in fitness, housing, education, and work
Educating communities about inclusive design
Funding accessible tools like speech-to-text devices, grab bars, or mobile ramps
Accessibility doesn’t just mean a physical ramp—it means removing the emotional, digital, and systemic barriers too.
This May 15, we challenge every organization, business, and community space to ask: Who are we excluding, and how can we do better?
And if you’re an amputee struggling with accessibility, reach out. We see you. And we’ll fight for you.
